What Swimwear is required for Lifeguarding?
Depending on your Agency or Employer, your Approved Lifeguard Swimwear & Swimsuits will vary. Most employers require a red or navy uniform consisting of shorts, and or swimwear such as a one piece bathing suit or two piece bikini. Standard accepted gear usually requires a visible ‘GUARD+’ or ‘LIFEGUARD’ logo clearly placed on the chest of all swimsuits and on the leg of shorts. Additional lifeguard apparel includes t-shirts, hats, and outerwear such as sweatshirts or sweatpants. In summary, most lifeguard jobs require the following items:
Swimwear and apparel in the color Red, Navy, Royal, or Black (depending on your Agency, Pool, or Employer)
GUARD+ or LIFEGUARD logo clearly displayed on chest of swimsuits or shirts, and leg of shorts.
Additional Equipment such as hip pack, CPR mask, whistle, etc

We often receive the question: How do I choose between screen-printing or embroidery? The simple answer is: ‘it depends on the apparel, your budget, and the size or complexity of the logo.’
Regarding apparel, the fabric or material of the uniform dictates the possible customization. For example, if you are choosing a women’s swimsuit made from our Polyester, we usually recommend screen-printing due to the price, but embroidery is also a potential option. When it comes to Rashguards, specifically made from Lycra or a Polyester blend, we limit the option to screen-printing only, due to the construction of the fabric and the limitations of the thread in this material. When it comes to our men’s and women’s lifeguard shorts, made from various Polyester-Spandex blends, we provide the option to choose either screen-printing or embroidery, and the right decision depends on your logo and budget. Typically, the larger and more complex the logo, the higher the cost for embroidery. This is why screen-printing is usually the most cost-effective solution for customization and works well with almost all fabrics or materials. Embroidery traditionally lasts longer and proves to be more durable, but is limited to certain fabrics and budgets.

In addition to a flexible fabric, an elastic waist provides comfort for all sizes. Enhanced drawcord allows them to be secure for swimming, diving, etc. Two front side mesh drainage pockets with side radio pocket provide extreme utility.
